Abstract：The synthesis of butyl p-hydroxybenzoate with ferric chloride as catalysts was studied. the effects of reaction conditions were investigated ,the optimum were determined as follows:the molar ratio of p-hydroxybenzoic acid to butanol is 1∶3,the molar ratio catalyst to p-hydroxybenzoic acid is 0.04∶1,the reaction time is 2.0 h,the yield of butyl p-hydroxybenzoate is 98.9%.
