Abstract：Synthesis of propel propionate from n-propyl alcohol and propane acid and solid super acid SO2-4/Fe2O3 as catalyst instead of sulphuric acid have been studied, the synthesis of catalyst and the condition of the synthesis of propyl propionate. The results showed that solid super acid SO2-4/Fe2O3 not only reduce the corrosion of the equipment. but also has good catalytic activity. The optimal conditions were (for 0.1 mol of propane acid) using 1.0 g of catalyst,the molar ratios of alcohol to acid was 2.5∶1, the reaction time was 3.0 h,the yield of esterification may up to 97.2%.
