Abstract：This paper reports four reduction methods of p-nitrophenylacetic acid which are the reduction using iron powder in acid or alkaline medium, hydrogen transfer reduction using Pd/C as catalyst and catalysis hydrogenation using raney Ni. The yield of these reactions is 85.3% , 92.9% , 86.0% and 82.9% respectively. The product purity is all over 98％ . We provide a tentative idea for realizing industrial production of this product from the comparison of raw material cost, product quality, simple work up, protect the environment against pollution and so on in the four methods.
