This article studies its abilities in astricting Ca2+ and Mg2+, buffering pH value, antiª²precipitation of calcium carbonate and decontamination. Meanwhile, its effects are compared with those of STPP. It is proved that all kinds of sodium silicates have their own advantages and disadvantages respectively in experiments. Its comprehensive performance is not satisfying enough to replace STPP if used alone.
